Online Data: CbPM

1080 by 2160 Monthly HDF files from VIIRS R2022 Data

note: data updated 10.19.2022 using the new VIIRS.R2022 reprocessing results
production of gsm data was discontinued
now using bbp_giop and chlor_a (instead of bbp_gsm and chl_gsm)
also switching to mld030 (instead of mld125)

To get these data, please click on the file name(s) that you have selected and save locally on your computer. The individual hdf files are gzipped (use gunzip to uncompress) and the tar files contain gzipped hdf files.

hdf file naming convention

cbpm.yyyyddd.hdf.gz

cbpm = net primary production (units of mg C / m**2 / day ) based on the updated cbpm algorithm
yyyy = year
ddd = day of year of the start of each monthly file
hdf = file type
gz = compressed with gzip (uncompress with gunzip)

The hdf files have metadata contained within them, which can be examined, for example, with program "ncdump".

npp is based on the updated cbpm algorithm, using gsm chl and gsm bbp (both modis derived products), modis par and k490, as well as nitrocline depth and mld for input; clouds have been filled in the input data using our own gap-filling software.
